科學家利用1種稱為parthenogenote的有絲分裂細胞，取代減數分裂的卵細胞來繁殖小老鼠；他們在parthenogenote分裂成兩個細胞前注射精細胞核，使其受精。
英國廣播公司（BBC）報導，在這項老鼠實驗中，成功懷孕的機率為1/4。
裴利說：「這是科學家首度證實卵子以外的細胞也能與精子結合，繁衍出後代。」「這扭轉了近200年來的想法。」

蔡孟璇外型亮麗為衛生福利部台東醫院家醫科醫師，因偏鄉醫療資源匱乏，9月起主動接下成功分院子宮頸抹片檢查服務，每周必須舟車勞頓到成功鎮，她身材嬌小被誤以是實習醫師。她說，台東民眾對醫生很尊重，值得按讚。
靚醫師蔡孟璇台北人，中山醫學大學醫學系畢業，曾擔任台大醫院家庭醫學科總醫師，今年1月底選擇到部立台東醫院支援偏鄉公費醫師，除門診還得兼住院醫師、急診值班。
蔡孟璇表示，台東醫師少，相對比較有發揮空間，最近適逢院內婦產科醫師請產假，從9月起主動接下本院及成功分院子宮頸抹片檢查服務，每周一在本院，周二至周四在成功分院，未來還想接下戒煙、旅遊門診及口腔篩檢。
全民健保提供30歲以上婦女每年1次子宮頸抹片檢查，但面對男醫師難免會尷尬，因此偏鄉婦女抹片檢查比率相當低，蔡孟璇到成功鎮服務因女醫師溫柔、細心天性廣受民眾歡迎，因為口碑好，有婦女還會幫她廣為宣傳。
75年次蔡孟璇多才多藝，寫得一手好書法，在台大醫院服務常寫春聯送友人，新婚半年與丈夫分隔兩地。她說未來不排除邀老公一起到台東服務。
